Back in 2019, CITEO a leading player in the packaging recycling and waste management launched a call to tender to design the future recycling bins of major French cities. Together with Les Acrobates (a collective of designers) and in collaboration with a clothing bin manufacturer, we entered the competition in Marseille City.
Our concept, composed of 3 asymmetrical stainless steel bins, 2 planters, a light post and bicycle racks won the competition. Our knowledge of concrete 3D printing was later a great addition to the project since this process is now validated for the planter base.
This project is still under development and the first 30 stations should be installed in Marseille streets very soon.
